Week 6: Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson

This is an image from tech for Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, UCI's mainstage production last fall. I just loved the lighting for this show as it really supported the concept of the Occupy Movement. Inspiration was drawn from patriotic meetings and rallies while embodying the occasional rock concert feel. The lighting truly supported the epic scope of this political musical. This scene that is taking place in this image is "The Saddest Song", a song where Andrew Jackson vows to keep fighting his enemies. The deep red lighting invokes the idea of all the bloodshed from the Trail of Tears and the wars Andrew has caused.

  1. Nice analysis of what the show was trying to say and how the lighting supported it - this will be good language for your critique :)
