Week#8 New Orleans

I always pictured New Orleans filled with lights on the streets. This month my mother went to New Orleans for a business trip. And the moment she told me that I urged her to take loads of photos of all the lights on the streets of New Orleans. Looking at the photos I was not disappointed at all! Seeing how crisp and bright the lights define the building and their designs is simply beautiful. The buildings give off a vintage, antique, European atmosphere, but with the lights added in, it gives off a modern twist. The vibrant colors just bring the city to life yet it still gives off the cultural beauty of the buildings. Looking at the photos I feel more drawn into the scenery. With the knight sky pitch black just contrasts so well with the bright vibrant colorful lights. If only I was able to be there in person and be in awe with everything and the culture itself. Sadly my mother wasn't there for Mardi Gra, but I imagine it being livelier than the streets of New Orleans with the music of Jazz and Kajun cuisines.

  1. Nice images and investigation of how architectural lighting can have a similar impact to theatrical light - nice post
