Week 6: Carousel

I remember we were talking about shadows and angles in class, and I found the shadows on this carousel very peculiar. It wasn't that late in the day, maybe around 1-2ish, and i found that the angle of light seemed very peculiar for a sun that was directly above. It gave off an unusual vibe, very mysterious, and i felt a little unsettled, even though the rest of the carousel was well lit. It's unusual how the angle of light can change emotions, especially when you assume the source of light is coming from else where. I cannot properly explain why the shadows on the carousel are like this, though I assume it might have to either do with reflection, or the buildings around it. At any rate, it gave me a lot to think about just through angle and intensity, not colour. It's similar to our picturizations projects I think, how even with no colour, a powerful emotion is stirred.

  1. It is great to see you thinking about this in such detail - it will serve you well as you continue in lighting design.
