Week 6: Sunlight on Leaves
I took this picture in Kew Gardens, London, which is a massive botanical garden on the outskirts of the city. This was a very quiet, peaceful area of the park with lots of trees. There was no one around, and all that could be heard was the wind in the leaves. It felt like I was in a secluded forest in the countryside, not in a city. I really liked the way the sunlight was hitting and illuminating the tops of the leaves, so I decided to take a picture. Somehow, I managed to get the angle just right and captured the beautiful shaft of sunlight coming through the leaves on the left. I think the shaft of light, and the patches of light around the leaves, make this photograph look like an impressionist painting. The shaft of light in particular looks like a soft brushstroke. All of the light is very soft and peaceful, which is exactly how I was feeling when I took the picture.
