Week 6: MOJI
This is an image of the piece "MOJI" choreographed by Elke Calvert in last quarter's dance Concert, New Slate that I performed in. The lighting for this piece was designed by Ebony Madry. From taking lighting design this quarter, I am gaining much more of an appreciation for lighting and how much it can elevate a dance on stage. On stage as a performer, you do not fully grasp just how effective the lighting is until you are sitting in the audience. After seeing how powerful and enhancing lighting can be and utilized within choreography, it has greatly inspired me in my own choreography to utilize lighting more as an equal partner within the dance rather then a later step added in after the piece is choreographed. I am looking forward to be able to utilize my new knowledge of lighting design and pairing it with my choreography in future projects next quarter.
